Aliyu Abdullahi is from Niger State in Nigeria. He was born on 10th January, 1967.
In 1984, he completed his secondary education at Borgu Secondary School, New Bussa and then went to the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a degree in veterinary science.
He also acquired degrees from the University of Calabar between 2000 and 2002 and Ogun State University in 2004.
He began his professional career as a veterinary research officer between 1992 and 2006, Special Assistant/ Head of Planning and Institutional Development and Department.
In 2015, he was elected as Senator to represent Niger North Senatorial District until 2023.
He also functioned as a Deputy chief whip at the 9th National Assembly, chairman Senate Committee on Media & Public Affairs Commission and vice chairman Senate Services Committee.
In October 2022, President Mohammadu Buhari conferred on Aliyu Abdullahi a Nigerian national honour of Commander Of The Order Of The Niger (CON).
In August 2023, he was appointed Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
