ENigeria Newspaper reports that Nigeria, Kenya, and other African countries attracted climate change funding during the Africa Climate Summit held in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
Announcing the climate change funding was Kenya’s president, William Ruto, at the end of the three-day summit, where he revealed that the fund is a collective effort from various stakeholders, including governments, the private sector, multilateral, banks, and philanthropists.
The African leader said some of the good highlights “include a transformative partnership investing $16 million over two years in expanding grid access in rural Burundi”.
He added: “A $4.5 billion commitment from the UAE to boost renewable energy, a substantial contribution from the European nations, and significant investments from the private sector,” he said.
