BREAKING: DSS Arrests Sowore, Moments After Release From Immigration Custody

Omoyele Sowore was arrested moments ago by the Department of State Security (DSS), and this was moments after he was released from the custody of Nigerian Immigration at the International Airport.

ENigeria Newspaper reports that men of the Secret Police arrested Omoyele Sowore, a radical activist and publisher of Saharareporters upon arrival from the United States via Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

His flight left the Washington Dulles International Airport at 6.14 EDT and arrived in Lagos at around 9.43 WAT.

ENigeria Newspaper understands that upon arrival at the Lagos International Airport, he was first briefly detained by men of the Nigerian Immigrations who seized his international passport and alerted the DSS, and moments after he was released from Immigrations Sowore, tweeted the development via his X account, this was before he walked into the waiting arms of the DSS operatives who were already on standby to arrest him.

Recall that On Thursday, September 12, 2024, SaharaReporters exclusively reported that a DSS memo ordering the arrest of the controversial democracy activist upon his arrival in Nigeria had leaked.

It was learned that the directive, issued by the newly appointed DSS Director General, Adeola Ajayi, stemmed from Sowore’s role in the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests.

Following the report, Sowore lambasted the DSS for issuing a directive for his arrest on his arrival in Nigeria, disclosing that he intended to return to the country ‘very soon’.

More on this shortly…
