JUST IN: Austine Egwuavoen Steps Down As Super Eagles Coach

In a recent development Austine Egwuavoen has stepped down as Coach of the Super Eagles, ENigeria Newspaper reports.

Regarding his decision to step aside, Austine Egwuavoen noted that his agreement with the Nigerian Football Federation was for only two games.

You would recall that the ex-Super Eagles skipper turned player was brought in after attempts to hire a substantive head coach for the national team failed.

ENigeria Newspaper reports that he took charge of two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
The Eagles beat Benin 3-0 last Saturday and drew 0-0 at Rwanda on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Kigali Airport after the game, Eguavoen refused to be drawn into preparations for Nigeria’s next game against Libya.

He said: “I have been given a mandate to handle two games.
“I will want to say I am very pleased with the boys and again, thanks to the NFF leadership and all the boys who supported me.

“It ends today. I can’t talk about Libya, because I haven’t been told about it.”
