Justice Abba Mohammed was born on February 19th 1961 in Kano state, Nigeria.
He spent his early years in Kano state where he schooled and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate respectively.
He enrolled in the Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and graduated with a degree Law in 1984. He then went to the Nigerian Law School in Lagos for his BL Certificate in 1985.
He began his legal career after he was called to bar in 1984 .
In 2010, he was appointed judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. He was promoted to the Court of Appeal on June 28, 2021 after he served in the high court for a decade.
In 2018, Jstice Abba-Bello Muhammed dismissed the suit filed by the then Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, alleging violation of his fundamental human rights by the Senate.
Mr Idris had approached the court seeking a declaration that the investigative activities of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee breached his rights as the Head of the Police Force.
He was the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Tribunal in 2019.
Justice Mohammed ruled out the petition which The PDP governorship candidate in the 2019 general election, Hon. David Ombugadu had sued INEC and Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the grounds that the petition could not be verified.
He currently presides over Ibadan, Oyo State Division of the Court of Appeal, ranks lowest in terms of seniority on the court’s bench among the judges on the panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court.
He occupies the 71st position on the list of judges of the Court of Appeal, ranking higher than only five others with whom he was elevated to the bench in 2021 and very little is known about him in social media.
His participation in the Presidential Election Petition Court can be seen as a defining milestone to boost his profile.
