Mohbad: Falana Chambers Swings Into Action…

Femi Falana Chambers has swung into action following the death of Mohbad (Oluwasegun Oluwabamidele Aloba) who died days back at the age of 27.

ENigeria Newspaper reports that the death of Mohbad has generated a series of controversies with many calling for a coroner’s inquest into his death as well as a proper investigation into the circumstances leading to his death.

Friends of the deceased who are agitated are currently fighting to get justice for Mohbad whose widow is currently in a state of sorrow.
While a committee set up by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Omohunwa, and headed by other senior Police Officers and lawyers met earlier in the day and agreed to exhume Mohbad’s corpse tonight or early morning on Tuesday, respected entertainment lawyer, Folakemi Falana, daughter of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has lent her voice to call for a Coroner’s inquest.

In a letter Barrister Folakemi addressed to the Chief Coroner of the Hogh Court of Lagos which was stamped received and seen by ENigeria Newspaper, she wrote:

When someone passes especially because I know how raw grief feels, I try not to post in a hurry because I don’t want to make things worse by saying the wrong thing or posting something that isn’t accurate or true.

So I spent the whole weekend finding as much as I could about Mohbad’s demise. I talked to some of his friends and his relatives and it’s clear he suffered far too much and needlessly too.

Mohbad’s death stings because despite the fact that he wasn’t on my radar and I never met him or knew him personally, I heard he was trying to leave his Label. Some of his friends reached out to me months ago for advice especially as they knew I had helped other artists negotiate leaving their record labels. I told them I was happy to help and they could put us in touch but they came back to me saying they were handling it. I genuinely thought they had come to an agreement. So imagine my shock and horror finding out he was being terribly harassed and living in fear till his last day.

Finding out he has a wife and a son tugged at my heart because I know how it feels to lose a husband so young.

After speaking to some of his friends and relatives, I’ve written to the Chief Coroner of Lagos state to conduct a coroner’s inquest. The letter was received and acknowledged today. We will continue to apply pressure till we get answers.

I know we can’t bring him back but his loved ones deserve to know what happened to him. Mohbad certainly deserves justice.

Praying for God to console his wife, his son, family and friends.
