ENigeria Newspaper reports that Aviation and railways unions in Nigeria are advised to join the ongoing Labour union protest.
The nationwide protest kicked off on Wednesday morning after the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) issued a seven-day ultimatum to the federal government to reverse all “anti-poor” and “insensitive” policies including the brazen removal of fuel subsidy as it directly affects the poor and vulnerable ones in the country.
A circular by the National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE, the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, ANAP, and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, NAAPE said as affiliates of the NLC, it was necessary for their members to join the planned strike.
The unions vowed not to suspend the action until the Nigeria Labour Congress tells them to.
The Nigeria Labour Congress on Tuesday night urged Nigerians to ignore news about a possible suspension of its nationwide strike
The NLC mobilized protesters across the country who are seen carrying placards with inscriptions like “Tinubu Listen to Nigerians not IMF, not World Bank, let the poor breath” etc.
Efforts by the federal government to halt the planned strike and protest in talks held on Tuesday night failed.
