ENigeria Newspaper reports that SEPLAT Depthwise swamp drilling rig “Majestic” capsized in the early hours of Tuesday.
A statement by Seplat, operators of the SEPLAT/NNPCL joint venture contracted rig said that it capsized in transit to its planned drilling location at Ovhor in Delta State and 92 of the 96-member crew have been accounted for and are safe.
Emergency response and rescue workers alongside the rig owner and authorities who have been activated are onsite.
SEPLAT added that its utmost priority will continue to be the safety and wellbeing of all the affected personnel and their families.
This is coming amid the current management crisis rocking the company which has torn it apart and locked it in a legal tussle a the top.
