Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has guaranteed the Emir of Zazzau that more military organization will be established to quell bandit attacks in Zaria.
He provided the guarantee on Friday while paying the emir, Malam Ahmed Bamalli, a condolence visit at his palace in Zaria.
According to the speaker, the goal of the trip was to express sympathy to the emir over the collapse of the mosque and incidents of bandit attacks in Zaria and its surroundings.
“As the leadership of the national assembly, we have engaged the relevant security agencies on better modalities of addressing the challenge.
“I want to seize this opportunity to inform the emir that the engagement has yielded results as the Nigerian army pledges to established additional camps at some of the identified routes of the bandits,’’ he said.
The speaker promised to collaborate closely with the emirate council on the swift and prompt reconstruction of the collapsed mosque during the visit’s second leg.
The emir responded by praising the speaker’s visit and advising him to extend the gesture to other tense areas of the emirate.
The emir notably advocated for the placement of such military camps near Kurege, Kugu, and other parts of the old city of Zaria’s western axis.
The speaker was accompanied by several of the nation’s top officials, who donated money for the mosque’s renovation. This was one of the visit’s highlights.
