Kenneth Gbagi, a controversial politician who was based in Warri until the time of his death was a criminologist who ran for governor under the umbrella of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the 2023 gubernatorial election; this is after several years of attempting to clinch the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State.
Kenneth Gabgi was born in Sapele – a kinsman to former Delta State politician, James Onanefe Ibori who was the first to release a public condolence message condoling with the deceased family after his passing hours ago.
Gbagi was born in a Catholic hospital by the Cemetery at Ogodo Road on September 22, 1961, and afterward, he attended Bishop Johnson Memory Primary School, Sapele.

In Warri, the name Keneth Gbagi resonates with many, old and young who have observed him from afar but deliberately maintained a good distance out of fear.
Weird in nature, Gbagi is dreaded in Warri over his widely rumoured love for lions and other wild animals; he reportedly reared a rare breed of lion which he is reportedly boastful about. White in colour; a reason he was nicknamed White Lion, according to some sources.
The veracity of this claim by some of his neighbours remains to be properly verified, but many have confirmed it to be true.
Although he continued to deny it, inside sources insist that he had a bunker where he rears lions and other wild animals.
If controversies were a medal, Gbagi had more than enough to go round. Among the most talked about was his act of dehumanizing some of his female hotel workers. The court subsequently awarded a cost against him which he also refused to pay.
Knowing the enigma called Gbagi, what no one can take away from him is his high level of brilliance.

While in Hong Kong, he ran out of finance, and without delay, he creatively shot a movie titled The Birth of Hong Kong in 1993. This helped him raise some money which he would use to pay his tuition fee at Sans Thomas University in the Philippines, where he read political science. He left Sans Thomas University and graduated as a criminologist from the Philippine College of Criminology.
Gbagi returned to Nigeria for his National Youth Service (NYSC) and served at the Police College in Ikeja, where he taught criminology.
He later went back to School and made distinction at the faculty of law, University of Lagos. He was the youngest lawyer in history to head the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria.
His investments in Nigeria include GKO Group of Companies, Geekos Investments, Golden Tulip Hotel, Effurun, Woodridge Cottage, Abuja, Robinson Shopping Plaza in Warri among others.
