It is interesting to also know that Ogunbanjo who served as Chairman of the NGX had previously served as President of the National Council of the NSE (as NGX was previously known), between 2017 and 2021.

Ogunbanjo whose election as NGX’s National Council President was held at the Council’s 56th annual general meeting took over from Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede who co-found Access Bank Holdings with Herbert Wigwe who had at the time completed his three-year tenure as president of the council of the Exchange. Aig-Imoukhuede however continued to serve on the national council as an ex-officio member in line with the NSE’s Article of Association.

He is also the son of a Doyen of Corporate Law in Nigeria, Chief Christopher Oladipo Ogunbanjo from Ogun State, Nigeria.

His father, late Chief Christopher Oladipo Ogunbanjo who died on October 7, 2023, appeared to have prepped him for succession at his respected law firm, Chris Ogunbanjo LP (Solicitors), which explains why he is until his death, the firm’s Managing Partners.

A corporate law expert and respected businessman like his late father, Bamofin Abimbola Ogunbanjo had a humble beginning and kicked off his career working as a credit analyst with Chase Manhattan Bank in Nigeria.

He held a golden seat on the board of many corporations around the world, including Beta Glass Plc, and the University of Buckingham Center of Extractive Studies Advisory Board.

Born into an accomplished family of Chris and Hilda Ogunbanjo, the foremost corporate lawyer, Bamofin Ogunbajo succeeded in scaling up his father’s law firm into a distinguished firm and eventually earned himself a spot at the International Bar Association as a member; this was after completing his schooling Lagos and proceeding to Millfield School, Somerset, England where he attained his GCE “O” Levels.

The distinguished Bamofin Ogunbanjo graduated with distinction from the American College in Switzerland with a B.Sc (Hons) in Business Administration. He also holds an LL. B from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom. Until his death, he was the Global Ambassador for the Cervical Cancer-Free Nigeria (CCFN) campaign.
