Who is the new CBN Governor, Nigerians Inquire as Yemi Cardoso Takes Over

Who is the new CBN Governor? This is the question many Nigerians have been asking on the internet since Yemi Cardoso was announced as the new CBN governor.

Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in on May 29, 2023, there had been new sounds from Aso Rock with many understanding the popular rhythm to mean a new sheriff has taken over, and ever since, events that characterized the last few months indeed indicated the same.

ENigeria Newspaper reports that one of the most applauded decisions of President Tinubu was the suspension from office of Godwin Emefiele a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria who is currently in the detention center of the Department of State Security (DSS).

The arrest and interrogation of Emefiele over alleged corruption and fraud allegations saw the immediate announcement of Folashodun Shonubi as the acting CBN Governor.
