Mr. John Mayaki, a former Chief Press Secretary to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, has advised the recently impeached local government council chairmen to challenge their impeachment in court. Mayaki believes that taking legal action is the most appropriate course of action, rather than “constituting nuisance” in the state
Mayaki also cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to refrain from making statements that could heat up the political space. He emphasized that the governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has a divine mandate and will not be distracted from his development agenda.
According to Mayaki, the impeachment of the council chairmen by the elected councilors is a constitutional right and does not concern the governor. He noted that the governor belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while the councilors and chairmen are members of the PDP.
Mayaki urged the impeached chairmen to contest their impeachment in court, rather than making careless statements that could bring anarchy to the state. He praised Governor Okpebholo’s efforts in transforming the state into a construction site, leading a peaceful state, and putting smiles on the faces of the people.
