The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has called for immediate security intervention following intelligence reports of planned terrorist attacks on communities in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Adams warned that residents of Ira, Inaja, Aho and surrounding settlements are facing credible threats after a letter allegedly dropped at Ira market announced imminent violence.

He described the development as alarming and urged both federal and state authorities to respond without delay.

“I urge the Federal Government and the state government to intensify security measures, enhance intelligence sharing, and deploy adequate resources to prevent these attacks and protect innocent lives,” Adams said in a statement made available to ENigeria Newspaper.

According to him, information available to his office indicates that coordinated assaults are being plotted to destabilise parts of the Southwest.

“Recent intelligence and credible reports at our disposal have revealed that terrorist groups are orchestrating coordinated attacks aimed at inflicting harm, spreading fear, and destabilising the peace of communities in parts of the Southwest,” he stated.

The Yoruba leader said any such act would pose a serious threat to public safety and regional stability.

He stressed that the planned violence is unacceptable and represents a grave danger to the wellbeing of residents in the affected areas.

While condemning the threats, Adams appealed directly to community members to remain alert and work closely with security agencies.

“It is imperative that we collaborate closely with security agencies and other relevant authorities to identify and report any suspicious activities promptly,” he said.

He further emphasised the need for unity across Yoruba-speaking communities in Kwara and neighbouring Kogi State.

“The safety and security of Yorubaland and Yoruba-speaking communities in Kwara and Kogi States, and its people, are paramount. We must all work together to ensure that peace prevails and that those who seek to disrupt our harmony are brought to justice,” Adams declared.

“Let us stand firm, united, and resolute against terrorism and violence.”

The warning comes amid growing anxiety among residents of Oyun LGA, as security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the alleged threat letter circulating within the communities.
