As Nigeria faces increasing international attention on its political and economic developments ahead of the 2027 elections, President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to key countries and international organisations.

ENigeria Newspaper can confirm that the move is as an effort to bolster Nigeria’s diplomatic influence and secure international support in the months leading up to the elections.

Among the high-profile appointments are Reno Omokri to Mexico, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette-Ibas to the Philippines, and former governors Okezie Ikpeazu to Spain and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece. Former Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau has been assigned to China, while Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu will serve in Israel, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim takes up the UN Permanent Representative post.

The ambassadorial appointments include both career diplomats and political appointees, reflecting Tinubu’s strategy to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign representation while rewarding loyal allies.

Analysts told ENigeria Neewspaper that the timing of these postings, which is just less than a year before the general elections, also signals a deliberate effort to project stability, reassure foreign investors, and maintain Nigeria’s influence on global platforms.

The nominations had been transmitted to the Senate in 2025 and confirmed before the end of that legislative year.

With the international community closely monitoring Nigeria’s economic and political trajectory, filling these strategic posts is expected to enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement, improve bilateral relations, and support domestic policy objectives ahead of 2027.

The full list of postings spans key nations in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and significant international organisations including the UN and the Vatican.
