Amid CAF’s ruling on Senegal to return the AFCON title to Morocco, Senegal plan to parade their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy before tomorrow’s friendly against Peru in Paris, as the country’s Football Federation vows to challenge the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to strip the team of the title.

Recall that The Lions of Teranga initially claimed their second AFCON crown on January 18 after defeating hosts Morocco 1-0 in extra time, a match that ended in chaos when Senegalese players walked off following a stoppage-time penalty awarded to Morocco while the game was goalless.

However, CAF later overturned the result, awarding Morocco a 3-0 victory. Senegal has since appealed the ruling, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed receipt of the appeal on Tuesday, promising to issue a decision “as swiftly as possible.”

“Faced with what amounts to the most blatant and unprecedented administrative robbery in the history of our sport, the Senegalese Football Federation refuses to accept this as inevitable,” FSF President Abdoulaye Fall said during a media briefing in Paris.

Shortly before Fall’s statement, ENigeria Newspaper discovered that FSF’s social media platforms released a schedule for the friendly at Stade de France, confirming the planned trophy parade.

“Senegal will not bend the knee and will not compromise its values,” Fall added. “Our fight now transcends the football pitch.”

The parade is set to be a symbolic display of the team’s defiance as they continue to contest CAF’s controversial decision.
