The APC (All Progressives Congress) has inaugurated a Media and Publicity Subcommittee ahead of its 2026 National Convention scheduled to take place from March 25 to March 28.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who serves as co-chairman of the committee, performed the inauguration on Monday and tasked members with ensuring clear communication and broad publicity for the party’s upcoming gathering, ENigeria Newspaper confirmed.
Idris, who spoke virtually from the United Kingdom, described the convention as an important event in the history of the ruling party.
“As you are all aware, this convention is a significant milestone in the life of our great party as we continue to strengthen internal democracy and consolidate our vision for a united, prosperous, and progressive Nigeria,” he stated.
He added that the APC remains firmly behind the reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the convention will reflect the party’s commitment to national progress.
“As a party, the APC remains committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, and this forthcoming convention provides another opportunity to demonstrate our unity, discipline, and shared commitment to national progress,” Idris said.
The minister stressed that the committee’s assignment is critical in shaping how the convention is presented to the public.
“The responsibility entrusted to this committee is therefore both strategic and vital. In today’s fast-paced information environment, the success of any major political event depends greatly on how effectively its message is communicated to the public,” he said.
According to him, members are expected to ensure transparency and coordinate media activities surrounding the event.
“Your role goes beyond publicity; it involves ensuring accurate information dissemination, promoting transparency, coordinating media engagement, and projecting the process and outcomes of the convention to Nigerians and the international community,” he added.
Idris further encouraged the committee members to approach the task with professionalism.
“I therefore encourage members to approach this assignment with utmost professionalism, creativity, and a strong sense of duty. By leveraging media platforms within our reach, we must ensure that the convention is widely and positively covered, while upholding the highest standards of credibility and integrity,” he said.
Congratulating them on their appointment, the minister expressed confidence in their ability to deliver.
“On behalf of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, I congratulate all members of this committee on your well-deserved appointment. I am confident that your collective experience and expertise will contribute greatly to the success of the 2026 APC National Convention,” he said.
“It is therefore my pleasure to formally inaugurate the Media and Publicity Subcommittee of the 2026 APC National Convention,” he said in closing.
