The funeral of former US President Jimmy Carter was held on Friday, with President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in attendance. The ceremony, which took place at the Washington National Cathedral, was a celebration of Carter’s life and legacy.

In his eulogy, President Biden praised Carter’s commitment to dignity, justice, and integrity. He emphasized the importance of standing up against hate and the abuse of power. Biden also noted that Carter’s life was a testament to the power of good works and faithful service.

Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, remembered him as a man of integrity, whose private and public life were guided by a strong moral compass. Stuart Eizenstat, Carter’s domestic policy adviser, praised his bipartisan approach and his commitment to advancing civil rights and human rights.

Former US Ambassador Andrew Young spoke to Carter’s sensitivity and spirituality, recalling his efforts to foster unity and equality.
