Mike Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police, has announced his withdrawal from the Ohanaeze Ndigbo presidential election. Okiro made the announcement during a press briefing in Enugu, citing a court order that barred him from contesting the position.
The court order was issued following a suit that claimed Okiro is from Imo State, not Rivers State, where the position has been zoned. Okiro maintained that he is from Rivers State, citing his birth certificate and other documents.
Despite his withdrawal, Okiro expressed his commitment to the rule of law and his dedication to the ideals of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He urged his supporters to stand by the rule of law and to prioritize peace and unity.
