Jerusalem was rocked by a loud explosion on Tuesday morning as Iran launched another barrage of missiles targeting Israel, state media reported, hours after talks of a potential ceasefire collapsed.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) confirmed the strikes on Telegram, stating, “Iran fires new wave of missiles at occupied territories,” and later adding that the “Iranian missiles pass(ed) through several Israeli missile defences.”
The attacks follow earlier missile strikes that hit a building in northern Israel. The Magen David Adom emergency services released video showing a damaged structure in the north but confirmed that no fatalities were reported from the incident.
The Israeli military issued multiple alerts on Tuesday morning, indicating that incoming Iranian missiles had been detected and that interception operations were underway.
Yesterday, reports emerged that US President Donald Trump announced that Washington and Iran engaged in what he described as “productive” peace discussions over the weekend aimed at ending ongoing hostilities.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he has ordered a temporary suspension of planned military strikes on Iranian power infrastructure. According to the president, the talks marked progress toward resolving tensions between the two countries.
Iran, however, denied that any peace talks was held.
The latest strikes highlight the widening security crisis in the region, with Jerusalem experiencing both physical damage and heightened alarm. Officials warn that the situation remains fluid, and residents have been advised to remain vigilant as military operations continue.
