ENigeria Newspaper reports that the Federal Government has withdrawn charges it leveled against Godwin Emefiele.
This was contained in an oral application made before Justice Nicholas Oweibo by Federal Government announcing its intention to withdraw the charges against the suspended and embattled former Central of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
According to FG, the decision was informed by emerging facts and circumstances of the case has requires closer investigation.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Abubakar, in an oral application, told Justice Nicholas Oweibo that the application followed the result of further investigations.
In his reaction, counsel for Emefiele, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joseph Daudu, opposed the application and insisted that the government first purge itself of the disobedience of the court order granting Emefiele bail before its application could be taken.
Consequently, Justice Oweibo adjourned till Thursday, August 17, 2023, to rule on the application.
