Early Life and family
Mohammed Badaru Abubakar is an indigene of Babura town in Jigawa State of Nigeria.
He was born on September 29th, 1962. He is married to three wives and blessed with children.
Education
Badaru completed his early education at Babura Central Primary School, in 1970, he then went to Kano state and schooled at Rumfa College.
After completion of his early and secondary education, he got admitted into the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1981 and graduated in 1985 with a degree in Accounting.
He also attended the National Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru Jos in 2016.
Career
Being a graduate of Accounting, he worked as an auditor in the Kano State Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
After few years of service,he established his own business firm, Talamiz Company with scope of business spanning across the automobile, agriculture, production and distribution of goods.
He is the present National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture
Politics
Badaru has been a member of the National Council on Privatisation, he was second Vice President of the Federation of the West Africa Chamber of Commerce (FEWACC)and Industries and a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.
In 2011, he contested for the gubernatorial seat of Jigawa State in the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria but lost to Sule Lamido of the People’s Democratic Party( PDP).
Again in 2015, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru contested for the Governorship in Jigawa state under the Platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC) and won. He also won re-election in the 2019 electoral polls.
Awards and titles
Alhaji Mohammed Badaru has been honored with traditional titles such as; Sardaunan Ringim in Ringim emirate and Walin Jahun in Dutse emirate due to his Benevolence and service to his people.
In 2006, he was given a national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by president Olusegun Obasanjo.
In August 2023, he was appointed the Minister of Defence in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
