Portugese star Joao Neves has snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo while he named the best players in the Saudi Pro League.
Joao Neves, who plays as a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, named the best player in the Saudi Pro League without mentioning legendary Portugese captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
During an interview with MVPs, monitored by ENigeria Newspaper, Neves has chosen not to mention the Al-Nassr striker when asked to select the best player in the Saudi Pro League, despite sharing the Portugal national team pitch with Ronaldo 14 times already.
The 21-year-old was asked to choose the top players in different leagues also but what has sparked debate was how he opted for another Portugese star Joao Felix, a former Chelsea and Barcelona star, who now plays on the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr.
“Saudi League? For me right now, the magical player is João Félix,” Neves stated.
Also, when pressed to name the best player in the Portugal squad, he added, “It’s tough, because I’ve already picked Portuguese stars in the English and Italian leagues, so I’ll go with myself.”
Joao Neves made his Portugese debut in 2023 and has since then been a regular presence for the national team. He is in the squad for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, and would be eager to make his debut.
In the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo continues to impress with goals and assists. The 41-year-old recently scored in Al-Nassr record 14th straight league win, bringing his own total goal tally to 968 goals, the most by any player in the history of the game.
Al-Nassr sit first wth five points clear ahead of Al-Hilal.
