In a surprising turn of events, President-elect Donald Trump has promised to intervene and prevent the ban of popular social media app TikTok in the US.
The ban, set to take effect this weekend, was put in place due to national security concerns over the app’s Chinese ownership 
According to Trump’s incoming national security adviser, Congressman Mike Waltz, the President-elect will “put measures in place” to stop the ban. This could include an executive order to suspend the ban or a 90-day extension for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app
The Biden administration is also exploring ways to prevent the ban, with President Biden reportedly considering deferring the issue.
