In a surprising turn of events, President-elect Donald Trump has promised to intervene and prevent the ban of popular social media app TikTok in the US.

The ban, set to take effect this weekend, was put in place due to national security concerns over the app’s Chinese ownership Trump Vows to Save TikTok from banned

According to Trump’s incoming national security adviser, Congressman Mike Waltz, the President-elect will “put measures in place” to stop the ban. This could include an executive order to suspend the ban or a 90-day extension for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app

The Biden administration is also exploring ways to prevent the ban, with President Biden reportedly considering deferring the issue. However, it’s unclear whether any of these efforts will be successful in circumventing the law passed by Congress TikTok has denied any links to the Chinese government and has ruled out a sale.

The Supreme Court is expected to make a decision on the matter any day noThis development marks a significant shift in Trump’s stance on TikTok, having previously attempted to ban the app during his first term in office.

The move has sparked speculation about the motivations behind Trump’s change of heart, with some pointing to the influence of billionaire donor Jeff Yass, who has invested heavily in ByteDance
