Iran’s threat that Ukraine could become a justifiable target due to its support for Israel has been sharply denounced by Ukraine.

The head of Iran’s parliamentary committee on foreign policy and national security, Ebrahim Azizi, asserted on X that Ukraine has “turned its entire territory into a legitimate target for Iran” and has thus effectively entered the conflict through its “drone support to the Israeli regime.”

The remark was rejected by Kyiv, which emphasized that Iran has been supporting Russia’s aggression by providing drones and associated technology that are used to attack Ukrainians.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry described Iran’s justification under the U.N. Charter’s Article 51 as “absurd.”

“It’s like hearing a serial killer justify his crimes by citing criminal code,” the spokesperson, Heorhii Tykhyi, noted in a statement.

Due to its continuous conflict with Russia, which has used thousands of Iranian-made Shahed drones since the start of the conflict, Ukraine has emerged as a global leader in drone interception. More than ten nations have asked for help in combating these drones as a result of Kyiv’s knowledge, and European leaders recently commended President Volodymyr Zelensky for his efforts.

In the meantime, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has urged local residents to flee to safety and sent a warning to the United States to evacuate American industrial installations in the area.

Iran’s threats to Ukraine is part of a larger military conflict between Iran and the United States that began in late February 2026 when coordinated Israeli and American raids against Iranian military and vital locations sparked a full-scale regional conflict. U.S. forces have conducted significant operations against Iranian infrastructure in this ongoing conflict, and Iran has retaliated by attacking U.S. bases and allies with missiles and drones. This has increased tensions and raised concerns about regional security, which now touch on Ukraine’s role in drone defense and technology support.

An attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, on Saturday allegedly damaged a Giraffe 1X radar system used for short-range air defense, C-RAM, and counter-drone.
