Early Life
Sa’idu Ahmed was born to the family of Khadi Ahmed Saidu Alkali on the 12th of February,1969 in Dakku LGA of Gombe State.
Education
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Maiduguri after successful completion of his primary and secondary education in his hometown.
Career
He started his career as a Public servant working with Dukku Local Government Council, and later joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In 2003, Alkali was appointed the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board by governor Danjuma Goje.
In 2007, Senator Alkali was appointed Commissioner of Information during Goje’s second term in office.
He was elected as Senator for the Gombe North senatorial district in August 2010 by-elections, after the death of the incumbent, Senator Kawu Peto Dukku and re-elcted during the 2011 polls under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic party (PDP).
He defected to the All Progressive Congress ( APC) and again won re-election in the 2015 and 2019 polls.
Again, in 2023, Sen. Alkali, contested for the Gombe North Senatorial seat but lost North to Former Gov. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
Awards and titles
Senator Sa’idu Ahmed holds the honorary title of Sarkin Gabas Dukku and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration.
In August 2023, he was appointed the nation’s Minister of Transportation by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
