Abdullahi Gwarzo is of the Hausa Tribe in Koyar Getso, Old Gwarzo LGA of Kano state.
He was born on the 23rd of September, 1960.
Education
He had his First School Leaving Certificate at Gwarzo day primary school in 1977.
He proceeded to Science Secondary School in Dawakin Kudu where he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate in 1982.
At the completion of his Secondary education, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering in 1988.
He did his compulsory National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) programme at Asaba Textile in present day Delta State.

Abdullahi Gwarzo is married to Bilkisu Usman and they have children together.
Career
Abdullahi Gwarzo began his career as a card playing member of the Social Democratic party (SDP) after he completed his National service.
In 1991, he contested and won the Chairmanship of Gwarzo local government council, a position he served from 1991 to 1993.
He also functioned as Executive chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Council, between 1997-1998 (NCPN), 2004-2007 (ANPP) during which he served as the State ALGON Chairman, and as well a caretaker chairman between 2003-2004 (ANPP).
In 2007, he was appointed as the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Kano State on special duties. He also served as deputy governor of Kano state between 2007 to 2011.
While serving as the Deputy Governor of Kano state, he supervised different projects in water projects.
In 2011, he switched to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and contested as the party’s gubernatorial but lost in the polls.
He has served as Chairman Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, a position he has been occupying since April 2021.
In August 2023, Abdullahi Gwarzo was appointed as the Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
