Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has pledged that the state will not succumb to fear following the deadly terrorist attack on Woro community, announcing measures to pursue justice and strengthen security.
The governor gave the assurance while inaugurating a seven-member committee to support survivors and families affected by the February 3 attack, which reportedly claimed at least 75 lives.
He described the incident as a tragic assault carried out by terrorists attempting to impose a “warped ideology.”
“We will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice for our people and strengthening security across our state. We are already coordinating with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure this evil never happens again,” AbdulRazaq said.
He stressed that Kwara would stand firm in the face of terror. “Kwara stands with you. Together, we will heal, rebuild, and emerge stronger. We shall not bow to fear or intimidation of any deranged ideology,” he added.
According to the governor, the committee’s mandate includes engaging directly with affected families, community leaders and residents to determine urgent needs such as medical care, rehabilitation, livelihood support, rebuilding of damaged infrastructure and psychosocial services.
He said the panel would act as a link between the government and the community to ensure that all interventions are transparent, community-driven and effective.
Chairman of the committee and Kiwozi of Kugiji, Mr Ahmed Ibn-Muhammad, assured the governor that members would work diligently to reach victims and provide necessary support to ease their suffering.
