Outrage has trailed Blessing CEO once again after netizens learnt of the demise of a UK-based Nigerian mother of three, Omotayo Abioye, who died of breast cancer in the United Kingdom.
Recall that the influencer fabricated a cancer diagnosis, and bogus medical paper to ask people for funds for the supposed cancer diagnosis.
The histology report associated with her was rejected by the Nigerian Medical Association in Delta State, which claimed that it was first sent to Deborah Mbara, a breast cancer survivor, on May 9, 2025, by Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba after she was referred for a confirmatory breast cancer test.
Before that, she had posted a video online where she was mocked those who have donated to her, stressing that she believed Nigerians loved her and would not want any misfortune to befall her. Hence, she believed Nigerians passed her tricky and deceiftul test.
As a result, the recent death of Mrs. Abioye raised more outrage on Blessing CEO as netizens demand for her prosecution because her act mocked people who genuinely live cancer, and especially those who die of it. In the same vein, they believe that Blessing’s lies would make Nigerian think twice in future before they help people who battle real cancer of any form.
Benjamin Kuti, commonly known as Oluomo of Derby, a former president of the Nigerian community in the UK, announced the passing of Mrs. Abioye on Friday via X. He revealed that Abioye passed away on Sunday, leaving behind “three beautiful children, aged eleven, nine, and seven,” which he described as her greatest legacy and source of pride.
He wrote, “It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Omotayo Abioye, who departed this life on Sunday, the 5th of April, in the United Kingdom.
“A devoted mother, loving wife, caring sister, cherished aunty, and dear friend who transitioned at the age of 40 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
She loved deeply, laughed freely, and had a beautiful gift for bringing people together whether through her passion for dancing or her warm, welcoming nature,” he added.
Oluomo further noted that Abioye remained steadfast in her faith throughout her illness, maintaining strength and grace despite the challenges she faced.
“Her life was a powerful testimony of resilience, strength, and hope,” Oluomo said.
“In this moment of grief, we humbly call on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to stand with the family.”
He disclosed that Nigerians living in the UK had started collecting money to give Abioye “a befitting and dignified farewell, and to support her children as they begin a life without their beloved mother.”
“No amount is too small. Your support, prayers, and kindness will go a long way in honoring her memory and easing the burden on her loved ones,” he said.
“May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) has petitioned key security and law enforcement agencies over alleged false cancer claims by the influencer.
ENigeria Newspaper can confirm that the society, through the National Director of Publicity, Hon. Bashir Mohammed Ranccasu, has formally submitted petitions earlier to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force.
In confirmation, Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, Edefa Bright, said, “We acknowledge the petitions; we are waiting for the complainants to come and give us their statement. We will thereafter investigate.”
