Chijioke Edeoga, a former Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2023 election has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
ENigeria News reports that Chijioke Edeoga, who previously served in the PDP as a federal lawmaker and commissioner in various capacities, is repositioning for the 2027 election year.
He took to the PDP state secretariat on Monday to announce his defection, citing Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership as a key factor in his decision.
You would recall that months back, Governor Peter Mbah dispatched party delegations to approach and beckon on Edeoga to return to the party as the party needs experienced high-ranking members like him for growth and stability.
He welcomed the party’s delegation and promised to carefully think about their proposition. “Apparently, he thinks the condition presented to him favours him, hence the decision to rejoin the PDP,” a source told our correspondent in Enugu moments ago.
Edeoga was a major contender in the 2023 election, where he gave the PDP candidate, Peter Mbah, a run for his money and platform of his party. Riding on the Peter Obi wave, Edeoga almost cruised to victory but for the skirmishes and alleged irregularities here and there.
