Kidnappers released a Redeemed Christian Church Pastor’s wife on Wednesday, this is as a building collapsed in Abuja this morning.
Kidnappers of the wife of the cleric, Pastor Johnson Ajiboye set her free on Wednesday after a ransom of N1 million along with foodstuffs, ENigeria Newspaper reports.
Although there are indications that the person who went to deliver the ransom and foodstuffs was also held by the kidnappers.
Mrs Ajiboye was kidnapped on Thursday night at Elerinjare village, near Idofian town, in Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State.
During the operation at her house, one of her daughters escaped miraculously amid sporadic gunshots.
In a reaction, the spokesman of the State police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi said in a text message to DAILY POST: “I don’t have any comment on that for now please.”
Abuja Building Collapse: Many Killed, 37 rescued
An Abuja building collapse has seen about 37 persons trapped underground.
ENigeria Newspaper reports that the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FCT FEMA) confirmed the collapse of the two-story building on Wednesday night, at Lagos Street, Garki village, Abuja.
According to reports, an unspecified number of persons are got killed, about 37 persons were rescued alive, while two others were fatally injured.
Speaking on the development, the Head of Public Affairs of the agency, Mrs. Nkechi Isa, said in a statement seen by ENigeria Newspaper on Thursday, that a rescue operation was ongoing to search for more victims at the time.
“The two-storey building, which serves both residential and commercial purposes collapsed on Wednesday night.
“FCT FEMA Search and Rescue Team are awaiting excavators to intensify the search to ensure that no victim is left in the rubble of the collapsed building,” she said.
The Director-General of the agency, Dr. Abbas Idris commended the efforts of all stakeholders, including members of the community that were working hard manually to rescue trapped persons.
