The long-running leadership dispute within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is expected to reach a critical point today as the Court of Appeal prepares to deliver its ruling on the matter.

Ahead of the judgment, the PDP Governors’ Forum has appealed to party members and supporters nationwide to maintain calm and allow the judicial process to run its course.

In a statement released in Abuja and obtained by ENigeria Newspaper, the forum’s chairman and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, said the party remains confident in the role of the judiciary in resolving political disagreements in a lawful and orderly manner.

The statement, issued by the forum’s Director-General, Dr Emmanuel Agbo, urged members of the party to respond to the outcome of the ruling with maturity and restraint.

“Whatever the outcome of the court’s ruling, the PDP reaffirms its respect for the judicial process and its commitment to peace,” the statement said.

According to the governors, respect for the courts and adherence to the rule of law are essential for sustaining democratic stability in the country.

They emphasised that the party would carefully study the verdict once it is delivered and determine its next steps accordingly.

The forum also indicated that party leaders would convene after the ruling to review the implications of the judgment and decide on the appropriate path forward for the opposition party.

The statement added that, “The forum calls on party members and leaders to show maximum restraint and remain law-abiding before, during, and after the ruling.”

While acknowledging the tensions generated by the internal dispute, the governors reassured members that the PDP remains focused on strengthening its structures and preparing for future political contests.

They further encouraged party faithful to remain united and disciplined as the legal process unfolds.

The forum added that the party is committed to offering Nigerians a credible political alternative and will continue to promote democratic ideals, including respect for diverse opinions and open political participation.
