The UCL quarter-finals promise fireworks as Liverpool head to Paris to face PSG, while Barcelona clash with domestic rivals Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou in a promising all-Spanish encounter.

Already, the first quarter-finals have been played between Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen and Sporting CP versus Arsenal. Bayern and Arsenal each won their respective ties ahead of the deciding return leg next week.

As for today, both ties kick also promise to be an end-to-end footballing masterclass.

PSG vs Liverpool

Liverpool and PSG renew their rivalry after last season’s dramatic Round of 16 tie, which PSG won on penalties en route to lifting the trophy. This season, PSG overcame a shaky domestic campaign to dominate Chelsea in the Round of 16, winning 5-2 in the first leg and 3-0 in the second. Luis Enrique’s side has shown their attacking depth with goals from Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have struggled domestically but remain formidable in Europe. After a 1-0 first-leg loss to Galatasaray, the Reds responded with a commanding 4-0 home victory thanks to Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Hugo Ekitike. Despite inconsistent form, Liverpool can travel to the Parc des Princes with confidence, having defeated PSG there last year, even if they fell short on aggregate.

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid

In Spain, Barcelona enter the quarter-finals as clear favorites against Atletico Madrid. The Catalans have dominated La Liga and impressed in Europe, finishing fifth in the group stage while dispatching Olympiacos and Newcastle in the Round of 16. A standout 7-2 second-leg victory over Newcastle showcased their attacking firepower, with Lamine Yamal scoring a stoppage-time penalty to secure the draw in the first leg.

Atletico, sitting 19 points behind Barcelona domestically, face a tough challenge. While they impressed against Tottenham in the Round of 16 with a 5-2 first-leg victory, they will need to overcome recent inconsistencies, including a heavy La Liga defeat to Barcelona, to advance in Europe.

Both sides have met four times already this season with the Blaugranes edging their opponent on three occassions, including last weekend’s 1-2 away win at the Wanda Metropolitano.
