Iran has outlined a series of sweeping conditions for ending its ongoing conflict with the United States, insisting on sanctions relief, troop withdrawal, and long-term guarantees as the basis for any lasting peace deal.

ENigeria Newspaper gathered that, according to emerging details from diplomatic exchanges, Tehran is pushing for a permanent end to hostilities rather than a temporary ceasefire, alongside the lifting of economic sanctions and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region.

The demands form part of a broader proposal submitted through international mediators, as both sides edge toward negotiations following weeks of intense fighting and escalating threats. The conditions also come within a window during the US and Iran have both agreed to halted attacks for a space of two weeks so as to negotiate.

As the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire that includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump announced he was delaying his threatening attacks on Iranian bridges, power stations, and other civilian targets. According to him, Iran has put up a “workable” 10-point peace plan that might assist put an end to the conflict that Israel and the United States started in February.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced that it has agreed to the truce and that it will start talks with the US in Islamabad on Friday. The start date of the truce was not disclosed by either Iran or the US.

At the core of Iran’s position is a rejection of short-term truces. Officials have made it clear that any agreement must include binding assurances that future attacks will not occur, as well as compensation for war-related damages.

Tehran is also seeking control-related concessions over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, including the right to manage transit and impose fees on vessels passing through the waterway, one of the world’s most critical oil routes. Beyond economic and military terms, Iran’s proposal reportedly calls for a broader de-escalation across the region, including an end to hostilities involving allied groups and guarantees tied to its sovereignty and security interests.

Despite tentative progress, the gap between both sides remains significant. U.S. officials have described Iran’s proposal as a “step forward” but not sufficient, while Tehran continues to insist that the war will only end on its own terms.

With talks expected to continue in the coming days, the focus now shifts to whether these demands can be reconciled into a framework that prevents a return to full-scale conflict in the region.
