Micheal Jackson will now be new interim coach of Burnley, taking charge of the next four games of the season, beginning on Friday against Leeds, reports have said.
After Burnley was demoted from the Premier League, former coach Scott Parker left the team with immediate effect.
After the club’s relegation to the Championship was announced last week, Parker had been in talks with them about his future, and it was mutually decided that the 45-year-old’s tenure at Turf Moor would end, hence Micheal Jackson can take over.
A Burnley statement said: “Scott Parker has left his position as head coach of Burnley Football Club by mutual consent.
“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution. He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club while Micheal Jackson takes over as interim manager
“The process of appointing a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season has begun.”
Parker took over for Vincent Kompany after they were demoted from the Premier League in the summer of 2024. In his first season, he was promoted back to the top division after going 31 games without losing and keeping 30 clean sheets.
Parker led the Clarets to a record-breaking season in 2024–2025 while he was at Turf Moor. Burnley was promoted from the Championship to the Premier League thanks to a 31-match winning streak and an incredible 30 clean sheets.
However, Burnley, who have only won four league games this season, have struggled back in the Premier League, and last Wednesday, with four games left, their instant relegation to the Championship was sealed following Manchester City’s loss at Turf Moor.
“It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years. I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction”, Parker said following his departure.
“Thank you to the Burnley fans. I wish you all and this great club nothing but the very best for the future”, added.
The remaning four fixtures for Burnley include Leeds United, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Wolveshampton Wanderers.
