Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has detailed the reasons behind the removal of Engr. Buba Galadima as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kano State Polytechnic, stating that the decision was driven by ongoing restructuring and alignment with his administration’s “Kano First Agenda.”

In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and made availale to ENigeria Newspaper, Yusuf said Galadima was relieved of his position as part of reforms aimed at repositioning the Polytechnic for optimal performance.

“Although the tenure of the Governing Council is for a period of three years, the appointment of the Chairman was terminated before expiration due to the ongoing reforms for optimal performance of the Polytechnic,” the statement read.

The governor explained that the restructuring is intended to strengthen the institution’s academic and administrative standards in line with broader development goals of the state government.

ENigeria Newspaper confirms that despite the early termination of his appointment, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to Galadima for the services he rendered to the institution during his tenure as Chairman of the Governing Council.

Following the decision, the governor approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.

“The Governor urged the newly appointed Chairman, the Emir of Gaya, to bring his wealth of experience, leadership and commitment to bear in repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for greater academic and administrative excellence,” the statement added.

While the government framed the move as administrative, political observers note that Yusuf and Galadima belong to different political tendencies within Kano’s evolving political landscape. Yusuf is a new defector to the All Progressive Congress (APC)in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), while Galadima has long been associated with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the party which brought in Abba Yusuf into power as governor.
