Some of the petitions against Tinubu at the PEPT include the allegations made by the Labour Party (LP) that he (President Tinubu) was not qualified to contest the election in view of the $460k fine in relation to alleged narcotics charges in the US. The court however held that trial and conviction by a court is the only way to prove guilt, hence it threw the petition out.

The case was in the civil docket of the United States North District Court Illinois the tribunal insists.
