The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intensified nationwide patrols and enforcement activities ahead of Valentine’s Day, warning motorists to avoid speeding, drunk driving and other traffic violations during the celebrations.

In a statement released on Friday to ENigeria Newspaper, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, said commanding officers across the country have been directed to strengthen surveillance, traffic control and strict enforcement of road safety regulations to protect lives and property.

According to him, operational teams have been equipped with breathalysers and radar guns to detect intoxicated drivers and those exceeding speed limits.

ENigeria Newspaper also reports that he noted that the Corps is combining enforcement measures with public education to promote responsible driving throughout the festive period of Valentine.

Mohammed also called on motorists and other road users to cooperate with FRSC personnel and promptly report emergencies via the 122 toll-free line.

He further urged parents and guardians to advise young people to act responsibly, stressing that youths are particularly vulnerable to road accidents during celebratory seasons.
