This is the biography of Joshua Tegbe, Nigeria’s new Minister of Power. The new minister will now take over from former minister Adebayo Adelabu, who resigned last week in order to contest governorship of Oyo state under the All Progressive Party.
Joshua Tegbe Background and Education
Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe was born on the 21st of March, 1966 in Oyo Town and of Ibadan ancestral descent; hails from Jegede Compound in Labo area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
He had his early education in St Mary’s RCM School, Oyo; Federal Government College, Ogbomoso and University of Ife, Ile – Ife. He was a national scholar and awards winning student at Secondary and University levels and graduated with a First Class Degree in Civil Engineering in 1988. He is also an alumnus of Lagos Business School, Nigeria; INSEAD France; Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (FCIT) and Certified in Governance Enterprise IT (CGEIT).
Joshua Tegbe Career and Work Experience
Over the course of almost 30 years, Joseph has led and managed numerous projects in the areas of institutional transformation, sector and organizational reforms, strategy creation, blueprint development and implementation, and ERP/IT solution review and implementation, enabling him to provide reform advisory services to Presidency, State Governments and International Agencies.
He has worked as a tax consultant, led and managed various audit engagements on major local and multinational companies, FMCG, Oil and Gas, and Manufacturing sectors at KPMG. He was also vast in accounting from his time as Head of Materials Accounting for Shell Petroleum Development Company (1991–1992 as contract staff.
Right now, he is an active member and consultant to the Infrastructure and Human Capital Development Policy Commissions of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), a member of the Ikoyi Club, and a member of the Ibadan Recreation Club. At KPMG Professional Services in Nigeria, Joseph Tegbe currently holds the position of Senior Partner and Head of Technology Advisory Services and Markets. One of KPMG International’s member companies is KPMG Professional Services.
In 2024, President Bola Tinubu has appointed Joseph Tegbe as director-general and global liaison for the Nigeria-China strategic partnership.
Joshua Tegbe is also a philantrophist who gives out to the needy through his foundation named the Tegbe Foundation.
