Retired Major General Adeyinka Famadewa has been appointed Special Adviser on Homeland Security by President Bola Tinubu.
The Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Kana, revealed the development on Monday in a circular signed by Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The statement claims that the nomination demonstrates the administration’s dedication to bolstering intelligence-driven operations, boosting internal security coordination, and enhancing interagency cooperation in addressing new security threats across the nation.
According to the announcement, the nomination was made possible by his excellent contributions to Nigeria’s national security architecture, strategic acumen, and remarkable service record.

1. He has served in the military and intelligence services for thirty years.
2. He was the National Security Adviser’s Principal General Staff Officer from 2015 to 2021.
3. Leading the creation of the Intelligence Fusion Center (IFC) at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) was one of his most important efforts. In order to enhance the nation’s assessment and response to strategic threats, this office was created to consolidate intelligence from several agencies, such as the DSS, NIA, DIA, and Nigeria Police.
4. He joined the Nigerian Army Resource Center in Abuja as a Senior Research Fellow after leaving the service.
5. He authored the highly regarded monograph “Policing and National Security in Nigeria,” which offers useful foundations for improved cooperation between security and civilian agencies.
ENigeria Newspaper has also recalled to have reported that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has not resigned from his position in light of the recently established Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security.
