Bosun Tijani currently serves as the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He is also the co-founder and chief executive officer of Nigeria’s Co-Creation Hub.

Early life

Tijani was born on the 20th of July,1977 in Agege, Lagos State,Nigeria. He completed his elementary and secondary school there before relocating to Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Family life

Bosun Tijani us married to Moji Tijani and the union is blessed with three children. The family has homes in Leicester, United Kingdom, and Lagos, Nigeria.

Education

He relocated to Jos in 1996 to attend the University of Jos, where he initially enrolled to earn a diploma in Computer Science before switching to Economics and earning a Bachelor’s degree in 2002.
Bosun is a PhD candidate at the University of Leicester and has a Bachelor of Science in Economics, a Masters in Information System and Management from the Warwick Business School in the UK.

The Centre on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law counts him as a fellow.

He also serves on the Presidential Advisory Group on Technology and Creativity and is a Desmond Tutu Fellow.

Tijani graduated from the University of Leicester’s PhD program in innovation and economic development in March 2023.

Career

Bosun founded and serves as CEO of the fitness company Truppr. He also holds the position of Partner at Growth Capital, the nation’s first social innovation fund for high-potential startups.

Hewlett Packard (EMEA), Pera Innovation Network (UK), and the International Trade Centre (UNCTAD/WTO), all of which are located in Geneva, Switzerland, are among the public and commercial corporations where he has more than 15 years of expertise.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation invested $100,000 in CcHUB in 2012 to aid in the creation of Bosun’s Hub.

Controversy

Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of Tijani to the position of minister, an old tweet criticizing the government reappeared.
He responded to numerous people in a contentious tweet he posted on July 23, 2019, that stated, “It is becoming the norm. With his’serving power a la carte’ knowledge, Tinubu fed them that false story. If you want to spread such a false story, go invest your time and money in your business.

Following the tweet’s reappearance on social media, people commented on it. Tijani’s position was questioned by a social media users with one asking, “Do you now agree that power is never provided a la carte and it is never a garbage narrative? I’m happy that the effort you and your colleagues put into crafting Tinubu’s digital economy policy has at last paid off. Best wishes, Dr. Bosun.

Senator Abdulfatai Buhari of the Oyo North Senatorial District questioned Tijani about “On the 21st of July 2019, Dr. Bosun tweeted against Nigeria that he does not appreciate the Nigerian passport and Nigeria as a nation” during his ministerial screening in the senate.
The candidate was questioned by the congressman about if he still supported Nigeria and its passport.

However, in his speech before the Senate, Tijani declared his love and dedication for Nigeria and his commitment to its advancement. The candidate said that his angry interaction with the Chinese Embassy was the reason behind his post.

The Ogun State ministerial candidate said, “I tweeted in rage.
