The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has called on Nigerian Army personnel to “sustain relentless, proactive, and intelligence-driven operations against terrorists and other criminal elements” across operational theatres, stressing the twin importance of operational effectiveness and troop welfare.
The directive came during Gen. Shaibu’s address to troops of the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps and the 33 Artillery Brigade at Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, according to a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele on Friday, and obtained by ENigeria Newspaper.
“The COAS charged troops to maintain a high level of operational readiness and intensify efforts to decisively engage and neutralize terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements within their areas of responsibility,” the statement said.
He warned that criminal activities continue to displace innocent citizens, reiterating that the Army remains determined to restore peace and stability in affected communities.

Emphasizing his command philosophy, Gen. Shaibu reassured troops that they would receive the necessary operational enablers and logistics to prosecute ongoing operations effectively.
“Lieutenant General Shaibu assured personnel that the Nigerian Army will continue to provide the necessary operational enablers and logistics required to effectively prosecute ongoing operations,” the statement noted.
“He stressed the need for professionalism, tactical efficiency, and sustained operational pressure to deny criminal elements freedom of action and restore public confidence. The COAS also reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the welfare of troops and their families, noting that a motivated and well-supported force is essential for operational success.”
According to the statement, deliberate measures will continue to be implemented to boost morale, enhance efficiency, and improve overall combat effectiveness, ensuring that the Army remains a capable and resilient force.
