The late reggae icon, Okwudili Onwubuya aka Ras Kimono’s daughter has cried out regarding the illegal sale of properties belonging to her late father by her father’s wife.
Oge Kimono, the daughter, issued a formal warning, in a statement which has been obtained by ENigeria Newspaper, to the general public as she alleged that a series of fraudulent transactions on the deceased properties by Sybil, Kimono’s first wife, who her father had legally divorced in 2005, had allegedly sold a piece of Estate property in Ota, Ogun State.
“At the time of his passing, the late Ras Kimono was legally married to Ms. Cynthia Dumas, whom he married in 2007.
“The said individual has no legal authority or mandate to act on behalf of the Estate or to dispose of any of its assets”, the statement read partly.
“Accordingly, the purported sale of the property is unauthorized, invalid, and of no legal effect.
“It is therefore deeply troubling that, several years after the demise of the deceased, the same individual has resurfaced to lay claim to and attempt to dispose of property forming part of the Estate, which the family intends to preserve and develop in honour of his memory and legacy.
“Furthermore, the Estate has reason to believe that there may be attempts to sell additional plots of land belonging to the Estate. Members of the public, prospective buyers, and real estate agents are strongly advised to refrain from entering into any transaction with the said individual concerning any property tied to the Estate.
“Any person or entity engaging in such dealings does so at their own risk and may face legal consequences, including recovery actions and claims for damages.
‘The Estate remains firmly committed to protecting the legacy and assets of the late Ras Kimono and will pursue all necessary legal remedies against any unauthorized dealings”, the statement concluded.
Ras Kimono, the Rum-Bar Stylée crooner, died in June 10, 2018, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
