Ali Muhammad (30), a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, has been apprehended in Ngamdu Market by soldiers of 254 Battalion under Headquarters Sector 2.
Items such as cash, a keypad phone, identification cards, charms, a dagger, and an exercise book with the phone numbers of potential terrorist contacts were discovered on the suspect, who had been on the unit’s watchlist.
“The arrest is considered a major disruption to the intelligence network of terrorist elements operating within the area,” a statement from the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) said.
For additional questioning, the suspect has been moved to Sector 2 Headquarters.
During coordinated operations throughout the theater, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have reported the recovery of explosive devices, the arrest of suspected terrorists and their accomplices, and the rescue of kidnapped civilians.
The actions are part of ongoing attempts to weaken terrorist capabilities in the area, according to a statement from Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK.
He mentioned that two suspected terrorists, Haruna Adamu (32) and Ibrahim Adamu (20), who were allegedly escaping from Zamfara State into Yobe State, were also apprehended by troops stationed in Ngamdu during operations in the town.
A smartphone, keypad phone, power bank, identification card, suspected illegal narcotics, charms, and other personal belongings were among the items found on them. Since then, the suspects have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for additional investigation.
The command “commends the troops for their valor and sacrifices, pushing them to sustain the operational tempo,” according to Lt. Col. Sani Uba.
ENigeria Newspaper also gathered that the military is still dedicated to “continuing offensive operations targeted at reducing terrorist capabilities, preserving lives and property, and restoring enduring peace and economic stability across the North East region,” he continued.
In order to support continuing operations, the military also urged the public to keep supplying timely and reliable information.
