Fans of Nigerian singer and lyricist, Asake, aka Mr. Money has been left furious after his lyrics in his just-released Album ‘M$NEY’ have been interpreted as promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The album, released yesterday, has a track named ‘Amen’. The track is a solo rendition of prayers and admonitions, with Asake admitting the power of the tongue on an individual. The track further explained how President Tinubu foresaw his victory with the ‘Emilokan’ phrase and further cemented himself as the victor of the 2023 presidential elections despite stiff competitions from PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and LP’s Peter Obi.
The lyrics, ‘Presido sope emi lokan, e dey win election‘, has sparked massive outrage as fans call for his cancellation for promoting the president amidst social, political and economic problems that the country faces.

@gmltony wrote, With everything wey dey happen for Nigeria, Asake still get mind praise Tinubu for his new album. I’m not sorry. My guys and I won’t be streaming
@fablouschiboy tweeted, Me I no dey listen again. I can’t waste my hard earned money and Subscribe to Spotify just to support People that are killing Me.
@JiddaGram tweeted, He talk say presido say emi lokon and he win election there is power in the tongue. He no really talk anything like hype sha e just say there is power in the tongue
@Festus tweet, Asake really went as far as campaigning for Tinubu with his album… I mean, someone whose regime has caused hardship, suffering and deep inconvenience to the masses?? Did that without even thinking about the feelings of the poor people, of his even own fans?? 💔Nah, that’s so low of him and we should all cancel him!!!!
However, someone like emmaoflife has a diverse opinion, tweeting, Y’all don’t get the message Asake is trying to pass. He’s basically saying y’all should wish for whatever you want cos there’s power in the tongue. Like the presido said Emi Lokan and still went ahead to become president.
Asake’s new album consists of 13 tracks.
