The All Progressive Congress (APC) has mocked former presidential candidate Peter Obi over his defection to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The ruling party, on its official X account (formerly Twitter), posted an old video where Obi criticised the habitual action of politicians who shift grounds and cross carpets. In the video, Obi was seen being interviewed by Arise TV Reuben Abati and another colleague. When being asked how carpet crossing, during hist time at All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), he said he would never leave the party.
“Many peole say I would eleave APGA tomorrow. No, politics is not about running from place to the other. Leadership is that you have to be consistently consistent ; what you said yesterday must be fulfilled today. I am not one of those fanatics that run around”, he had said.
However, the former Anambra state governor has since moved from APGA to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and now National Demcratic Congress (NDC).
Peter Obi to NDC
Recall that ENigeria Newspaper has reported that Peter Obi announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing structural issues and escalating internal crises in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Obi voiced his intense dissatisfaction with what he called a “toxic” political environment characterized by intimidation, insecurity, and ongoing internal strife in a statement posted on Sunday via his verified X (previously Twitter) account.
The former governor of Anambra State claimed that personal grudges against the Opposition coalition’s leadership had no bearing on his decision to leave the party. He explicitly cleared important party leaders of any misconduct.
