Defying the odds and blazing the trail, Senator Natasha Akoti-Uduaghan is going ahead with her homecoming celebration and rally against the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State and the state security operatives.

ENigeria News reports that the State Police Command, in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP William Ovye Aya, acting under the instruction of the governor, had urged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Udughan to shelve her homecoming celebration and rally slated for today in Okene for fear of hoodlums attacking the event.

Senator Natasha, who had been at daggers drawn with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over allegations of alleged sexual harassment, appeared to be suffering some level of victimization and pushback from members of the Senate and aggrieved politicians loyal to Akpabio.

The senator had since been suspended for six months on allegations of misconduct on the floor of the senate, among others.

The police in their statement wrote:
“Following the intelligence report on security threats in Kogi State and the subsequent ban on all forms of rally and procession by the Kogi State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Police Command, has called on the organisers of the planned rally at Okene to cancel such event in the interest of the peace in Kogi State.

“The call for cancellation becomes necessary, noting that intelligence reveals that some hoodlums plan to hijack the process and cause a disturbance of peace in the State. The Command cannot afford to jeopardize the existing peace the State is currently enjoying.

“In view of the security threat received on the planned rally, the Kogi State Police Command is therefore advising the organizers to cancel the event so as to avoid any breakdown of law and order in the State. As the Command will not hesitate to apply the full wrath of law on any one who causes a disturbance of peace and order in the State.”

But in a video seen by ENigeria News moments ago, a large crowd was seen singing and cheering the female senator as they awaited her arrival in Okene.
