A major wave of defection has hit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State as more politicians announce defection.
ENigeria News reports that Kaduna APC suffered a severe loss of its members since former Nasir El-Rufai, a former Kaduna State governor, announced his defection days ago. This is as five more top politicians loyal to the former governor announced their resignation from the APC as well.
Recall that the former governor on Monday, March 10, joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after his resignation from the ruling APC.
Since El-Rufai’s resignation, many of his political loyalists have continued to toe the same path as the governor by leaving the APC.
Below is a list of defectors, which also includes some of the key members of El-Rufai’s cabinet during his time as governor of Kaduna State.
They include:
1 Ibrahim Hussaini, Kaduna State’s former Commissioner for Agriculture
2 Aisha Dikko, Former Commissioner for Justice
3. Amina Baloni, Former Commissioner for Health
4. Halima Lawal, Former Commissioner for Education
5 Hajiya Bari’atu Mohammed, Former Head of Service, Kaduna State
While the recent defectors are yet to announce their new party, there is the likelihood that they would be joining their former principal in the SDP.
Some top players who confided in ENigeria News said a major wave of defection across the country is happening as alignment for the 2027 elections begins.
