The Kaduna State Police Command has clarified that the early morning bus explosion at Mando Motor Park was not a bomb blast, but an incident involving a gas-powered vehicle, ENigeria Newspaper has learnt.

The explosion, which occurred around 3:00 a.m. on April 5, 2026, at Silver Luxury Travel located in Mando Garage, had initially sparked concerns among residents before police moved to dispel fears.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, officers were promptly deployed to the scene following reports of the incident.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the incident involved a gas-powered luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which exploded due to overfilling of its gas tank,” he said.

He added that emergency measures were immediately taken to secure the area and prevent further risk, noting that the affected vehicle has since been evacuated to a safe location.

“No casualties or loss of life were recorded, and normal activities have resumed in the area,” Hassan stated.

As part of standard safety procedures, the police also deployed the bomb disposal unit to the scene, while the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, has ordered a full investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and prevent a recurrence.

The command further cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, stressing that misleading reports, particularly on security issues as the bus explosion incident, could create unnecessary panic among residents.

Earlier in Kaduna today, suspected gunmen on Sunday attacked worshippers in Ariko community, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least seven people and abducting several others during Easter celebrations.

ENigeria Newsaper reported that the early morning assault, which targeted two churches — First ECWA Church and St. Augustine Catholic Church — left residents in panic, as gunmen reportedly invaded the area in large numbers and opened fire on congregants.

The attack adds to a growing list of violent incidents in Southern Kaduna. In February 2026, gunmen abducted several worshippers during a church gathering in Kurmin Wali, also in Kachia LGA, triggering outrage and renewed calls for stronger security presence in the region.

When contacted, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, promised to offer more information on the incident, but efforts to obtain an official police response were still in progress.
