In the event that Pep Guardiola decides to depart at the end of the current campaign, Enzo Maresca has discussed his future amid rumours of a possible transfer to Manchester City, ENigeria Newspaper has gathered.
As the European season comes to an end, the former Chelsea manager says he is currently taking time to relax and be ready.
Speaking about his next steps, Maresca said: “It’s May now, and the championships are coming to an end. In the meantime, I’m resting and trying to prepare.
“I’ve been everywhere. I enjoyed myself as a player in four different countries, and as a coach I’ve already been in two or three different countries. I adapt quite well. My last experience was in England, so let’s see what happens next.”
“I’m feeling ready for next chapter, that’s the most important thing,” Maresca said in response to the prospect of a call from Manchester City.
“Man City job? It’s crucial to feel ready right now, no matter which club calls you. Thankfully, only a few weeks remain, so we’ll see what transpires”, he added.
Head coach Pep Guardiola might leave Manchester City after a trophy-laden career with the Blues, including winning the premier league six times and winning the Champions league once.
Enzo Maresca at Chelsea
On January 1, 2026, Enzo Maresca resigned as head coach of Chelsea due to a breakdown in his relationship with the board and subpar performance, which included only one victory in his final seven Premier League games. The Italian left 18 months into a five-year contract, despite winning the Conference League and Club World Cup.
After this exit, the club appointed former Strastbourg manager Liam Rosenior but he was fired after just three months of bad and inconsistent performances as the World Champions failed to win seven (7) consecutive premier league matches. After Rosenior’s exit, interim coach Callum McFallane has taken over but unable to take the team out of the ruins as they currently languish in ninth position with only two games to go.’
This means that the team might not play in Europe next season.
